Events bring together flowers, plants, fabricated décor, furniture, transportation, packaging, and large volumes of short-term materials — much of it purchased for a single occasion and discarded within hours. We believe a responsible event partner treats sustainability as an operating system, not a marketing word.
Choosing a sustainable event partner is important because the decisions made during design and production directly affect material consumption, waste, transportation emissions, floral and plant sourcing, packaging, labor practices, local economic impact, and what happens to products after the event ends.
Sustainability in events is not simply about adding greenery or using the word “eco-friendly.” It requires operational systems, responsible sourcing, waste reduction, reuse, measurement, and long-term investment.
Environmental and social commitments only mean something when there's governance behind them — verification, reporting, and a track record. That's the part of any credible ESG program we lean into hardest.

Our founder brings a 30-year history in sustainability across floriculture, solar, and organic farming. This isn't a program we adopted recently — it's a discipline that's shaped how this company operates from the start.
Florida Fresh Events is different because we control and coordinate more of the event-production process than a traditional floral or décor company — floral design, greenhouse-grown and maintained plants, plant rentals, custom fabrication, scenic backdrops, stage props, furniture and décor, installation and removal, resort décor, gifting, inventory storage and reuse, composting, and material recovery.
Most event companies specialize in only one or two of these areas, which means clients often hire separate floral, furniture, plant, linen, fabrication, and scenic vendors — creating additional deliveries, duplicated labor, fragmented accountability, and more waste. By bringing these services together, we can reduce unnecessary transportation, consolidate production, reuse inventory across multiple event categories, and make sustainability decisions across the entire event rather than one isolated component.
These certifications provide independent validation that our growing and operating practices meet recognized environmental and agricultural standards — supporting responsible management of water use, fertilizer, crop-protection practices, energy consumption, waste management, recordkeeping, and overall environmental performance.
This matters because many companies make sustainability claims without outside verification. Certification gives clients greater confidence that the plants used in their events come from an operation actively measuring and managing its environmental impact — and it allows us to maintain plant inventory locally, refresh plants between events, and extend the useful life of plant material rather than treating plants as disposable décor.
One of the greatest environmental advantages we offer is our extensive rental inventory. We own and maintain containers, planters, furniture, scenic elements, props, backdrops, display pieces, structures, decorative accessories, and plant material — designed to be reused, refreshed, modified, repainted, reupholstered, or reconfigured instead of purchased new for every event.
A single scenic element or container may be used across dozens of events, spreading its environmental impact across a much longer useful life. Whenever practical, our fabrication team designs with modular construction, replaceable components, repaintable surfaces, adaptable branding, efficient storage, and long-term rental potential in mind — supporting both environmental responsibility and stronger financial value for the client.
Flowers are grown and traded through a global agricultural supply chain that affects water, soil, chemical use, labor conditions, transportation, and local communities. We recognize that not every flower, variety, or season can be sourced through a certified program. Our approach is not to make unrealistic claims — our goal is to continually improve traceability, increase responsible purchasing, and work with suppliers willing to document their environmental and social practices.
Traditional floral foam is convenient, but it is generally a petroleum-based, single-use product that can break down into small particles. Our design and production teams continue to evaluate and expand alternatives.
Not every design can immediately become foam-free, particularly where transportation, heat, event duration, and venue requirements create limitations. Our objective is meaningful reduction, not unsupported claims of perfection.
Flowers, foliage, branches, leaves, soil, and other organic materials should not automatically be treated as garbage. Our composting initiatives are designed to divert appropriate organic materials away from landfills and return them to productive use — reducing landfill volume and methane, creating useful soil amendments, supporting local agriculture and landscaping, and building awareness among employees and clients.
Waste separation requires planning, labor, employee training, and dependable downstream partners. We are building systems that make responsible disposal a normal part of event production rather than an occasional marketing exercise.
We view sustainability through three connected pillars — because a solution that cannot be maintained financially will not create lasting environmental improvement.

We support forest-conservation initiatives in Peru that protect threatened ecosystems and help prevent deforestation — providing carbon storage, biodiversity protection, habitat conservation, watershed protection, local employment, and community investment.
Our support of conservation work in Ecuador connects event sustainability to the protection of one of the world's most biologically important regions — a threatened tropical forest ecosystem with significant biodiversity, and a conservation-based local economy.
We support and document the people whose communities are directly connected to the forests, rivers, and natural resources that benefit the entire planet — building understanding of Indigenous stewardship, forest protection, and the connection between consumption and source communities.
We do not view these communities as marketing material. Our objective is to build long-term relationships, listen, learn, and support work identified as meaningful by the people who live there.
We are exploring and supporting pongamia — a hardy, oil-seed-bearing tree — as part of a broader interest in regenerative agriculture and climate-resilient crops. Florida Fresh Events now has more than 900 pongamia trees in production, representing a tangible, long-term investment in regenerative agriculture and carbon sequestration.
*Based on a published industry estimate of up to approximately 115 metric tons of CO₂ sequestered per acre of pongamia over a 30-year growing life — roughly equal to 1.5 million miles of passenger-vehicle emissions using general U.S. averages. Actual results vary significantly based on climate, soil, irrigation, tree survival, planting density, growth rate, and farm-management practices. This should be described as an estimated long-term sequestration potential, not as a currently verified carbon offset. Trees accumulate carbon gradually as they grow, and the amount cannot be treated as an official offset unless the planting is measured, independently verified, and registered under an accepted carbon-accounting methodology.
Our sustainability work extends into education, documentary production, and public storytelling through Sense of Source, our own foundation — exploring where products come from, who produces them, how they reach us, and what environmental and social impacts exist along the way.
Our goal is to make the supply chain visible and help clients understand that every product has a source, a story, and an impact.
Large events require dependable execution. Sustainability cannot interfere with safety, quality, guest experience, or operational performance. Florida Fresh Events has the infrastructure to deliver complex events while continuing to improve sustainability practices.
The event industry cannot become sustainable through slogans. Some products must still be transported. Some flowers are seasonal. Some designs require imported materials. Some venues impose operational restrictions. Some sustainable alternatives are not yet available at the scale, price, or performance level required. Our commitment is to be honest about those realities.
We do not claim that every event is carbon neutral, waste free, locally sourced, or completely foam free. Instead, we identify practical improvements, measure progress where possible, and continue building better systems.
